The Jadiara Royal House of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House has stated that Fuji musician Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose (K1) is not a member of their royal lineage.
Prince Akinola Odedina, the head (Olori Ebi) of the Jadiara Royal House, said this in a letter dated December 7. The letter was sent to the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode.
The letter, titled “Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose, MON,” was also copied to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Chairman, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Attorney General of Ogun State, the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretary, and the Awujale Interregnum Administration Council.
Prince Odedina explained:
“I have been watching recent events quietly, especially the issue of Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose and his claim to the Awujale throne through the Jadiara Royal House. I want to clearly state that Wasiu is not from the Jadiara Royal House.”
He said the chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House gave Wasiu a nomination form, expecting him to prove his family connection to the Jadiara Royal House. He added that it was important to share this information because the matter had become public.
He also said the public would be updated as things develop.
Earlier, the Olori Ebi of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, told The Nation that only true members of the ruling house are allowed to contest for the throne of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
According to him, every qualified member must fill a form showing their family history, signed by their Olori Ebi, before any nomination form can be approved.
He said they gave Wasiu a special consideration to submit the form, but he personally does not know Wasiu’s lineage.
He added, “I cannot say anything for now until we receive his official letter and nomination form, signed by his Olori Ebi, confirming the exact lineage he claims.”
