Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, who represents Ogun Central Senatorial District, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is aiming to register at least 51 percent of all registered voters in Ogun State through its ongoing e-registration exercise.
Salisu made this known on Monday while speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the Ogun Central Senatorial District caucus, held at the residence of former Governor and party leader, Chief Olusegun Osoba.
According to the senator, the party does not have a fixed numerical target but is encouraged by the progress so far. He revealed that one local government area has already registered about 15,000 members within a week.
“If you project this across the 20 local governments in the state, you can see the scale of growth,” he said. “By the time the exercise is concluded, it will be clear that the APC is firmly positioned as the dominant party in Ogun Central.”
He explained that the party’s broader goal is to ensure that at least 50 to 51 percent of registered voters in the state are also APC members, aside from supporters who may be unable to register.
Salisu urged party members to remain united and committed ahead of the 2027 general elections. He also called for continued support for President Bola Tinubu and the Ogun State Government, noting that ongoing reforms are beginning to yield positive results.
The senator added that the meeting was aimed at strengthening unity, boosting party cohesion, and encouraging both INEC voter registration and APC membership enrollment.
Speaking at the meeting, former Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sharafedeen, stressed the importance of inclusive leadership, saying no single individual can manage election activities alone. He noted that Ogun State has over 6,000 polling units and emphasized the need for teamwork at the grassroots.
The APC Senatorial Chairman, Mr. Sunday Sowunmi, also called on party members to serve with integrity and dedication in building a stronger future for the party.
Other dignitaries present included House of Representatives member Afolabi Afuape, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly Oludaisi Elemide, former Speaker Tunji Egbetokun, Dr. Sikurulahi Ogundele, former Senator Gbenga Obadara, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Adijat Adeleye, and all six local government chairmen in the district led by ALGON Chairman, Dr. Folasade Adeyemo.
Former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Tunji Ishola, warned that disunity could threaten the party’s future ambitions. He stressed that unity and inclusive leadership are key to sustaining the APC’s success in future elections.
