Nigerian politician, businessman, and social reform advocate, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has left the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said his decision was “a strategic and patriotic step to help rebuild Nigeria’s unity and hope.”
Ajadi announced his resignation from the NNPP on Monday, November 10, 2025, during a press conference. He gave copies of his resignation letter to journalists. The letter was sent to several NNPP leaders, including those at the ward, local government, state, regional, and national levels.
He explained that his decision came after much thought about the country’s future and the need to work with a larger political party that could bring real change.
“My decision to join the PDP is both strategic and patriotic,” Ajadi said. “I respect the NNPP and what it represents, but I believe the PDP has a wider and stronger platform for national unity, youth empowerment, and true federalism.”
Ajadi was the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 elections. Before that, he had stepped down as a presidential aspirant to support Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He made it clear that his exit from NNPP was not due to conflict but based on personal conviction and a renewed sense of purpose.
“There is no bad blood between me and my former party,” he said. “I’m thankful for the chance to serve under its banner. But as Nigeria faces economic hardship, unemployment, and leadership challenges, it’s time for patriots to come together and rebuild trust in government.”
Political analysts see Ajadi’s move as an important shift ahead of the 2027 general elections, which could bring new alliances across the country.
Outside politics, Ajadi is well known for his humanitarian work. Through the Olufemi Ajadi Foundation, he has supported widows, artisans, and small farmers with training and small grants. He is also an advocate for youth involvement in leadership, entrepreneurship, peace, press freedom, and accountability.
“Nigeria is at a crossroads,” Ajadi said. “We need leaders who listen to the people and act selflessly. I believe my joining the PDP will strengthen the party at the grassroots level and restore hope among ordinary Nigerians.”
Leaders of the PDP in the South-West welcomed Ajadi, calling his move a “boost to the PDP family.” They praised his integrity, youth mobilization efforts, and community impact.
Ajadi promised to work closely with PDP leaders to promote transparency, peace, and inclusive governance.
