The Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASUED), Prof. Adekunle Adeogun, said that 5,141 students will graduate at the university’s 17th convocation, scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday.
He said the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has helped many students stay in school. In the 2025/2026 session, 4,210 students received loans totaling N700 million.
Prof. Adeogun also announced that the university will give honorary Doctor of Science in Education degrees to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and former Ogun State governor Chief Olusegun Osoba.
At a briefing at the university’s Senate Building, he gave a breakdown of the graduating students:

- First Class: 40
- Second Class Upper: 1,466
- Second Class Lower: 2,768
- Third Class: 492
- Pass: 19
- Postgraduate students: 356

He announced Bukola Osunrinde, a Computer Science graduate with a perfect 5.0 CGPA, as the best graduating student.
Prof. Adeogun said the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved 12 new undergraduate programmes and four doctoral programmes. Some of the new courses include Entrepreneurship, Physics and Electronics, Cyber Security, Data Science, Agricultural Science, Adult Education, Yoruba, Christian Religious Knowledge, Fisheries, and Aquaculture.
He praised NELFUND, saying it helps students get higher education regardless of their financial background. In this session, 4,210 students received N700 million in loans. He thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting education for Nigerian youth.
The Vice-Chancellor also said the university’s 20th anniversary lecture, originally planned for last November, will now be delivered during the convocation by Minister of Education, Dr. Moruf Alausa.
Prof. Adeogun noted that TASUED has 100% accreditation from the NUC. The university keeps updating its courses to match global standards, with focus on STEM, digital learning, entrepreneurship, and inclusive education.
He said the Federal Government’s support has strengthened the university, improving its infrastructure. New lecture halls, laboratories, and learning facilities have been built, and ICT systems have been upgraded to support e-learning and digital administration.
