Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West, has stepped in to help solve the ongoing power outage problems in parts of Ogun State.
This latest effort involves stakeholders from communities in Ogun West and Ogun Central that have been without electricity for several months.
Residents, business owners, traditional rulers, and community leaders have all complained that the long power outages have crippled social and economic activities in many areas of Ogun West and Ogun Central.
In a statement from the Senator’s Media Office, Adeola noted that the long power cuts have hurt many businesses, especially small and medium ones that cannot afford expensive alternative energy sources. He added that the outages have also reduced people’s quality of life.
He said: “I have listened carefully to the cries of our people in Ogun West and adjoining parts of Ogun Central. The persistent power outages have crippled businesses and made life difficult for our people residing in many communities and settlements.
“As their elected representative and apostle of the Renew Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I cannot fold my arms while my people and other resident Nigerians suffer in darkness.
“I am fully committed to ensuring that power is restored and sustained in the shortest possible time going forward.”
As part of his intervention, the senator worked with electrical contractors over the weekend to start urgent repairs, reconnections, and new construction works. These include the supply and installation of transformers in the affected areas.
The projects include:
- Reactivation of Ilaro to Ibese 33KV overhead lines
- Reactivation of Ibese to Dangote 33KV overhead lines
- Reactivation of (Dangote) Ibese to Joga 33KV overhead lines
- Reactivation of Isaga Junction to Ibara Orile and Isaga 33KV overhead lines
- Reactivation of (Dangote) Ibese to Igbogila 33KV overhead lines (118 spans)
- Reactivation of Igbogila to Ayetoro 33KV overhead lines
- Reactivation of Igbogila to Ijoun 33KV overhead lines
It also includes the supply and installation of:
- A 500KVA 11/0.415KV transformer at Onikoko, Abeokuta
- A 500KVA 11/0.415KV transformer at Kings Dominium Street, Off Kuforiji Olubi Road, Saraki Area, Adigbe, Abeokuta
- Reactivation of 33KV overhead lines from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro to Oja Odan through Ebute Igbooro (331 spans)
Senator Adeola, also known as Yayi and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, said the 12 projects are part of a larger plan to rebuild and improve power infrastructure for fair and reliable electricity supply across Ogun West and nearby areas.
He said: “Electricity is the backbone of industrial and social development. By addressing these power challenges, we are restoring hope, reviving local economies, and creating an enabling environment for business growth.”
Adeola thanked residents for their patience during the blackout and promised that the ongoing projects will bring clear and measurable improvements in electricity supply soon.
