Awujale Aspirant Alatise Promises Innovation, Investment, and Inclusive Growth for Ijebuland
Engineer and entrepreneur Otunba (Engr.) Babatunde Alatise has officially declared his ambition to become the next Awujale of Ijebuland, pledging to lead with innovation, investment, and inclusiveness.
During his visit to the Bubiade royal family house, Alatise said his goal is to blend Ijebu’s rich heritage with modern leadership ideals.
“My interest goes beyond peace and progress,” he said. “I intend to bring numerous business opportunities to the people of Ijebuland.”
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators (FCIA) and a member of COREN and the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Alatise has built a successful career across Nigeria’s mining, property, and agricultural sectors. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Tuntise Investments Limited, Yemlat Farms, and Tuntise Properties.
He outlined his vision for a more structured and development-driven Ijebuland, emphasizing the role of traditional leadership in community development.
“If chosen as the next Awujale, I’ll ensure that mining companies operating in Ijebuland sign Community Development Agreements that directly benefit our people,” he stated.
A man deeply rooted in faith and service, Alatise holds the titles of Otunba Otutubiosun of Ososa and Alagbala Adinni of Ijebuland.
Community leaders have welcomed his declaration with optimism.
Chief Rasheed Adenuga, a respected elder, described Alatise as “a technocrat with deep roots and a progressive mindset,” adding that “he represents the new face of traditional leadership—educated, experienced, and ready to use modern tools to uplift his people.”
Similarly, Abdul Barry Bojela, the Oloriebi of the Bojela family, expressed confidence in Alatise’s candidacy, saying,
“From our discussions, I’m pleased with the person we’re presenting.”
As consultations among royal families and elders continue, Alatise’s candidacy brings a refreshing blend of youth, vision, and professionalism to the contest for the Awujale stool.
