Sagamu Ward 4 Reaffirms Gbenga Daniel’s Suspension From Apc

The Executive Committee of Ward 4 of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagamu, Ogun State, has insisted that the suspension of Senator Gbenga Daniel, who represents Ogun East, still stands.

The ward leadership stated this in a communiqué signed on Wednesday by its Chairman, Adebayo Ismail, and Secretary, Durojaiye Oluwole. They argued that, under the APC Constitution, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has no authority to review, overturn, or nullify the suspension imposed on Daniel by the relevant party organs in Ogun State for alleged anti-party activities.

The committee dismissed a November 17, 2025 press statement from the party’s National Secretariat, stressing that the matter required clarification. It said the Ogun State chapter had only notified the NWC about the senator’s suspension — a decision originally taken by the Ward Executive after Daniel allegedly ignored invitations to respond to accusations of working against the party.

According to the ward, disciplinary action begins with the “Executive Committee concerned,” whether at ward, local government, state, zonal, or national level. While Article 21(5)(vii) of the APC Constitution gives the NWC the power to suspend members, the ward argued that this does not invalidate the disciplinary powers of other executive councils, nor place their decisions under NWC review. Such decisions, it said, can be challenged only through the party’s appeals process.

It maintained that the National Secretary’s directive was “misplaced” and without constitutional backing.

The ward added that although Daniel has not been expelled, his unchallenged suspension temporarily strips him of all party rights and privileges. It accused him of openly undermining the APC during the last general elections and attempting to obstruct the party’s efforts at the Election Petitions Tribunal.

“We reaffirm that the suspension of Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel remains fully in effect,” the statement concluded, stressing the ward’s commitment to discipline, fairness, and due process within the party.
