The Ogun State Government, under Governor Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed its strong commitment to the welfare of workers and retirees, according to the State and Local Government Pension Fund Management Committee.
At a joint meeting held on Thursday, November 6, the committees reviewed progress on the state’s Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) reforms and praised the Abiodun administration for significant achievements. These include the successful enrolment and verification of employees, prompt remittance of monthly deductions, and approval of palliative payments to retirees.

The committee also highlighted key milestones such as the payment of accrued pension rights to over 24,000 workers, approval of death benefits for 352 deceased employees, and the ongoing review of pension laws to strengthen pension administration in the state.
They reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, sustainability, and timely payment of benefits, assuring stakeholders that the government remains focused on fulfilling its pension obligations.
The committee further pledged to tackle existing challenges and advance the next phase of implementation, with guidance from the National Pension Commission (PenCom) to ensure alignment with national standards.
According to the committee, these achievements reflect Governor Abiodun’s unwavering dedication to improving workers’ welfare and sustaining pension reforms across the state.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and member representing Obafemi Owode Constituency, Hon. Soneye Kayode, has called on private investors and real estate professionals to participate in Ogun State’s housing development initiatives.
Speaking at the commissioning of a housing project in Bara, Orile Imo, facilitated by High Chief Olakunle Olalekan, the Asiwaju of Orile Imo, Soneye commended the chief for supporting the governor’s vision of providing affordable housing for residents.
He noted that Governor Abiodun has significantly expanded affordable housing options since assuming office, citing projects such as the Kobape Housing Scheme, Prince Court Estate, and its second phase, as well as new developments in Itori, Ijebu Ode, and the upcoming Idi-Ori Estate in Abeokuta.
“Ogun State now has more affordable housing projects than ever before,” Soneye said. “Private developers should seize this opportunity to partner with the government in reducing the housing deficit and ensuring that more people live comfortably and securely.”
