The three ruling houses of Mobalufon in Ogun State — Oludipe, Olumurende (Demuren), and Olumukaiye (Ilumọka) — have cautioned against interference by non-indigenes in matters concerning the succession of the Moguniseja stool.
In a statement dated January 26, 2026, signed by Dr. Kunle Taiwo on behalf of the ruling houses, the community reaffirmed its support for Omoba Oyebowale Ilumọka as the Moguniseja-designate. The statement emphasized that succession matters are strictly the responsibility of Mobalufon indigenes and described recent attempts by outsiders to intervene as “improper, misleading, and unacceptable.”
According to the statement, Ilumọka, the grandson of the late Moguniseja Joseph Ilumọka, was nominated through traditional processes recognised by all three ruling houses. His selection, it noted, is firmly grounded in lineage, custom, and the customary laws governing the Moguniseja stool.
The ruling houses stressed that the Moguniseja stool is an internal traditional institution, and decisions regarding succession remain the exclusive preserve of its indigenes.
The statement read in part:
“On behalf of the Oludipe, Olumurende (Demuren), and Olumukaiye (Ilumọka) ruling houses, together with the indigenes of Mobalufon, we reaffirm our collective and unequivocal support for Omoba Oyebowale Ilumọka as the duly nominated Moguniseja-designate.
“This position reflects a long-standing and settled decision, consistent for over six years, reached strictly according to the customs, traditions, and rotational succession system of Mobalufon.
“Omoba Oyebowale Ilumọka’s nomination is firmly rooted in lineage, tradition, and the customary laws governing the Moguniseja stool.”
The community reiterated that any attempts by outsiders to influence succession matters will not be tolerated, underscoring the importance of respecting local customs and authority.
