The Ogun State Police Command has filed six charges against a social media influencer, Adetoun Onajobi, also known as @justadetoun, at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta.
In a statement released on Monday, the police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Onajobi is accused of using social media and other online platforms to spread false information about the Ogun State Government and to harass the state governor. The police said these actions violate the Cybercrimes Act.
The police also claimed that Onajobi ignored several invitations to come in for questioning. They said she will be arrested and brought to court to face the charges.
According to the statement, the police invited her for an interview on January 2, 2026, to respond to the allegations.
Instead of attending, her lawyer wrote to the police saying she was sick and could not come. The letter included a medical report from a doctor, listing health problems and treatment.
The police said they investigated the medical report and found it to be fake. They then arrested the doctor named on the report.
During questioning, the doctor allegedly admitted that the report was created at the request of Onajobi during a phone call that involved her lawyer.
The doctor has now been charged in an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court for conspiracy, presenting a false document, and trying to obstruct justice.
The police said Onajobi has continued to avoid them, and they do not currently know where she is.
They added that they are also investigating other people linked to the alleged false information.
The police said they will use all legal means to find and bring her to court to answer the charges.
The Ogun State Police Command said it is committed to fighting all types of crime, including online and digital crimes.
While saying they respect citizens’ constitutional rights, the police warned that free speech has legal limits and does not protect people from criminal actions.
