The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has announced major structural upgrades for the upcoming 40th edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF) 2026. Speaking on The Conversation, Princess Layo Bakare-Okeowo, Vice President of the LCCI and Chairperson of the Trade Promotion Board, emphasized that the landmark anniversary marks a significant milestone in establishing the annual event as a premier driver of commerce across Nigeria and the wider ECOWAS region.
A central focus of this year’s landmark event is a strategic shift away from routine consumer shopping toward high-value, merchandise-scale transactions. Bakare-Okeowo revealed that the 2026 fair will introduce structured Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Government (B2G) matchmaking frameworks designed to facilitate large-scale wholesale procurement, international supply contracts, and public-sector partnerships. She noted that participants will have access to pre-arranged meetings with major international delegations and corporate decision-makers.
The 2026 edition is set to feature a diverse array of global and domestic exhibitors, including delegations from Japan, China, Vietnam, and Turkey. Special thematic zones will highlight key emerging sectors, notably compressed natural gas (CNG) manufacturing, solar energy solutions, industrial robotics, and a dedicated Tech Hub. Bakare-Okeowo emphasized that incorporating advanced technology and sustainable energy innovations reflects the evolving needs of modern Nigerian businesses seeking cost-effective power and operational alternatives.
With an expected turnout of more than 500,000 visitors and more than 1,500 exhibitors, the LCCI has reaffirmed its non-profit commitment to trade facilitation by offering free entry to attendees. Additionally, localized support will be provided for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Backed by major sponsors including Oando PLC, Dangote, and the Lagos State Government, dedicated halls will showcase agricultural vendors and domestic enterprises. At the same time, an expanded Africa Hall will highlight intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
Scheduled to run from November 6 to November 15, 2026, the fair will feature an official opening address by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and conclude with a closing address by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. In addition to core commercial activities, family-friendly spaces, including a dedicated Children’s Corner featuring product sampling and entertainment, will ensure an inclusive environment for all attendees throughout the ten-day exposition.
