To improve infrastructure and support its growing industrial sector, the Ogun State Executive Council on Friday approved the construction of new roads and housing projects across the state. The decisions were made during the council’s first meeting held in the newly opened Executive Council Chamber at the Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The Council also confirmed the creation of traditional councils responsible for selecting some traditional rulers in the state.
Approved Road Projects:
- Miliki Junction – Bode Olude – Alhaji Sugar Avenue in Abeokuta North (1.05km long, 10m wide)
- Paddy Arikawe Road, GRA Sagamu, Sagamu LGA (3.39km long, 9m wide)
- Itanrin–Sabo Road, Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu LGA (5km long, 10m wide)
Approved Housing Projects:
- 26 duplexes at Ogun State Housing Corporation Office, Ibara, Abeokuta.
These include:- 12 five-bedroom detached duplexes with two-room boys’ quarters
- 14 four-bedroom semi-detached duplexes with one-room boys’ quarters
- 9 duplexes at HID Estate (Iseya Court), Obasanjo Hilltop, Abeokuta.
These include:- 5 four-bedroom detached duplexes with one-room boys’ quarters
- 4 four-bedroom semi-detached duplexes
Traditional Ruler Appointments:
The Council approved the appointment of:
- Chief Lai Labode as Are Egba (Abeokuta South)
- Dr. Oluwadairo Adeleke as Ogboye Egba (Abeokuta South)
It also approved the selection process for the following traditional titles:
- Ongbeyi (Yewa South)
- Olofin of Ijofin (Ipokia)
- Elebote of Elebote Iboro (Yewa North)
- Awujoko of Ijoko Orile (Yewa North)
- Akoko of Tongeji Island (Ipokia)
- Oniwuye (Yewa South)
- Opo of Idosemo (Ipokia)
- Alaye of Oniro-Agute I (Ipokia)
- Olodan of Odan
- Abujafole (Ado-Odo/Ota)
