The Labour Party (LP) said it plans to take part in all elections in Ogun State in 2027.
Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South West, spoke to party members at the swearing-in of the new Ogun State LP leaders. The event took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists hall in Abeokuta and was attended by representatives from all 18 local government areas of the state.
Arabambi said the LP will contest the governorship, three Senate seats, and nine House of Representatives seats in the state. However, the party will support Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for president.
He said the LP aims to win the Ogun State governorship in 2027 and criticized Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for poor performance. Arabambi added that the LP’s governorship candidate will come from Ogun Central, accusing Abiodun of treating the senatorial district unfairly.
He also criticized the state’s proposed 2027 budget, saying that borrowing to cover half of the capital budget will only increase the state’s debt. He encouraged the new LP leaders to stay focused and said winning the governorship is possible.
