An agricultural economist, Otunba Tunji Oredipe, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oredipe, who hails from the Ogun East Senatorial District and is also a systems architect, pledged to prioritise grassroots development, ensure inclusive growth, and promote accountability if elected.
He made the declaration at a well-attended event held at Eagle Square, Atan, in Ijebu North East Local Government Area, where he also unveiled his campaign strategy document and organisational structure.
With his entry into the race, the number of APC governorship aspirants has increased, reflecting growing interest across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Speaking at the event, Oredipe emphasised that the office of governor should not be treated as a position to be shared based on informal arrangements, but rather one that should be entrusted to the most capable candidate.

He called on party stakeholders and residents of Ogun State to support his ambition, describing it as an opportunity to deliver effective and people-focused leadership.
Oredipe, who has worked with several international institutions, including the World Bank, said his experience positions him to drive development and improve governance in the state.
Also at the event, APC leaders in the local government area, including the council chairman, Folusho Badejo, expressed support for his ambition, urging party members and supporters to rally behind him as a potential successor to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
