Festac DPO Matilda Ngbaronye Dies After Surgery
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer of Festac Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, CSP Ngbaronye passed away on Friday after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre in Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
Adebisi described her passing as a great loss to the Command, noting that Ngbaronye was a disciplined and upright officer who served with professionalism and integrity.
“She was known for her diligence, discipline, and devotion to duty. Her humane approach to policing greatly improved the relationship between the police and the public,” Adebisi said.

She added that the late officer was never found wanting in the discharge of her duties and that her death came as a shock to the entire Command.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohumdare Jimoh, along with all officers and men of the Command, has extended condolences to Ngbaronye’s family and her aged mother.
Adebisi also noted that the Commissioner had personally reached out to Ngbaronye’s husband and elder brother, a priest, to convey the Command’s sympathy and support.
She added that details of the burial arrangements would be announced later and prayed for the repose of her soul.
