The UNESCO Institute for African Culture and International Understanding has recently recommended the Culturo-Techno-Contextual Approach as a vital tool for Nigeria’s educational sector to achieve sustainable and culturally sensitive education. The Director of the institute, Prof. Peter Okebukola, highlighted the significance of this approach in creating a sustainable education system that is in line with the specific requirements of Africa’s diverse communities.
He also emphasized the importance of incorporating technology in a way that respects Africa’s rich cultural heritage and promotes sustainability, while actively involving local communities and stakeholders in educational programs. The Culturo-Techno-Contextual Approach advocates for the integration of local culture, technology, and contextual learning to create an educational system that is relevant and responsive to the needs of the society.
