He faulted the acts of displaying the coat of arms on the national flag.

Coat of arms of Nigeria

The former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has recently appealed to Nigerians to pay closer attention to the accurate use of national symbols. During his live appearance on Channels Television’s Empowering Tomorrow: A New Vision for Nigeria, he expressed his concern over the misuse of the national colors and emphasized the significance of rendering national symbols only during recognized events for the country at large. Fashola particularly cautioned against inscribing the coat of arms on the national flag, pointing out that it goes against the proper use of the national colors.

Furthermore, Fashola emphasized that the national anthem is a reflection of the country’s sovereignty and should be sung with due respect and honor. He stressed the importance of recognizing the power of national symbols in shaping the country’s identity and called for a deeper understanding and appreciation of their significance.

As a nation, it is imperative that we recognize and respect the power of these symbols, using them appropriately to reflect the pride and unity of our people.
