Rt. Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, also known as Ijaya, a member of the House of Representatives for Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, has passed away.
She died after a short illness. The news was shared in a tweet from the official House of Representatives X account on Wednesday night. Onanuga was born on December 2, 1965, and was a politician and businesswoman. She had been the Deputy Chief Whip in the Nigerian House of Representatives since 2023.
Onanuga was born in Hammersmith, London, to Nigerian parents. She won a seat in the House of Representatives in 2019 as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also served as the Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
