The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, in partnership with the Ogun State Government, has announced plans to hold the Bosun Tijani Foundation Festive Basketball Tournament.
According to a statement released in Abeokuta, the three-day event will take place from December 19 to 21, 2025, at the Alake Sports Complex, Ijeja, Abeokuta.
The tournament is meant to celebrate the end-of-year holiday season. It will bring young people together through basketball while promoting unity, fun, and community spirit. The event will also showcase young basketball talents from Ogun State and other areas.
With the theme “Tech Meets Basketball,” the programme combines sports with creativity, technology, and community activities. It aims to give young people a space to express themselves, connect with others, and enjoy the festive season.
Bosun Tijani said the tournament is part of efforts to support youth development beyond the usual methods. He explained that when young people are given opportunities through sports, creativity, and technology, it helps build their confidence and future potential.
The event will include basketball matches between youth teams, a fan village, cultural and entertainment activities, technology exhibitions, and discussions involving government officials, private companies, and youth organisations.
The organisers expect the tournament to attract young people, families, sports lovers, and community leaders. The event will also help strengthen Ogun State’s image as a centre for youth innovation, culture, and sports, while ending the year with a message of unity and hope.
