Bebuzee Targets New Income Streams For Nollywood Actors

Nollywood actors are expected to gain additional opportunities to earn from their creative content through a new digital initiative by Bebuzee, a United States-based artificial intelligence-powered app recently launched in Nigeria.

Bebuzee is an all-in-one “super app” developed by Bebuzee that integrates social media, video streaming, e-commerce, messaging, real estate, and digital payment services into a single platform

The initiative, known as the Actors Guild Community On-boarding platform, is scheduled for unveiling on 31 October and is designed to help members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) generate income through their content and online engagement.

Bebuzee said members who join the community would enjoy VIP status, while those who upload content, attract fans and promote their creative businesses on the platform would receive instant payments for their posts.

The company said it was targeting more than one million members through the initiative.

Ahead of the platform’s unveiling, Bebuzee announced the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, as its brand ambassador.

Yakubu was unveiled alongside seven other Nollywood actors: Patience Ozokwo, Ebele Okaro, Zubby Michael, Destiny Etiko, Segun Arinze, Sani Danja and Jide Kosoko, who were signed as ambassadors during the platform’s launch in Lagos.

Speaking on his appointment, Yakubu described the endorsement as a personal milestone and expressed optimism that the partnership could open new income streams for actors.

He said the initiative was particularly significant given his position as guild president, stressing the need for practitioners to benefit more directly from the value they create in the film industry.

According to him, actors should not depend solely on mainstream artiste fees or earnings from platforms such as YouTube and other social media channels.

He said Bebuzee could give members an additional avenue to monetise their creative work and improve their financial wellbeing.

“The more they earn, the better it gets for them. They’ll be proud of their industry, they’ll be proud of their guild,” Yakubu said, noting that he was pleased the partnership had come during his tenure.

On plans for the Actors Guild Community On-boarding platform, the AGN president said the guild intended to onboard as many members as possible before its scheduled unveiling.

He explained that the initiative would allow members to share content and earn money from their contributions while helping the community expand.

Yakubu said the guild was working towards onboarding a sizeable number of actors before the end of October.

The partnership is expected to provide participating actors with another digital channel to showcase their work, engage audiences and explore income-generating opportunities beyond conventional film production and distribution.
