Afcon 2025: Supercomputer Tips Five Nations For Glory In Morocco

The Opta Supercomputer has released its prediction for the countries most likely to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The tournament will kick off this weekend in Morocco and run until January 18, 2026.

Ivory Coast are the defending champions, having won the last edition after a 2–1 victory over Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the final.

However, Opta has tipped host nation Morocco as the strongest favourites to win the tournament. The North African side has been given a 19.1 per cent chance of lifting the trophy.

Egypt are ranked second, with the Pharaohs holding a 12.4 per cent chance of winning the competition. Senegal follow closely in third place, with the Teranga Lions given a 12.3 per cent chance.

ICYMI :

Algeria and Nigeria complete the top five contenders. Algeria has a 12 per cent chance of winning the title, while Nigeria has been given a 7.3 per cent chance.

Other countries listed behind Nigeria include Tunisia, defending champions Ivory Coast, Mali, Cameroon and South Africa.
