Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has advised young people to stay away from anti-social behaviour, saying they play a key role in the state’s economic growth, social development, and democratic stability.
The governor gave this advice during the official opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch A, Stream 1, held at the Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu.
He said his administration has continued to increase investments in youth development to make Ogun State a top destination for innovation, business, creativity, and job opportunities.
According to him, more than 22,000 youths have been trained in areas such as software development, cybersecurity, drone technology, animation, robotics, and digital entrepreneurship in the last 20 months to prepare them for the global digital economy.
The governor also highlighted the importance of sports and creativity, noting that the government has upgraded sports facilities across the state as part of efforts to build a prosperous, inclusive, and youth-driven Ogun State.
“I urge you to maintain high standards of discipline, loyalty, dedication, and patriotism. Avoid all forms of anti-social behaviour.
“Be hardworking, innovative, compassionate, and committed to excellence. Nigeria needs your energy and ideas, and Ogun State welcomes your contributions,” he said.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu, said the orientation programmes were designed to teach discipline, patriotism, leadership, and selfless service through drills, physical training, and leadership activities.
She added that a total of 3,198 corps members were registered, including 1,314 males and 1,884 females. She encouraged them to take part in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which is aimed at giving them practical skills for self-reliance.
