Police Deny Assassination Attempt On Lt. Yerima

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed viral social media claims that there was an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima, calling the reports false and capable of creating unnecessary panic.

In a statement on Sunday night, FCT Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the Command has received no record or report of any such incident within the FCT.

Yerima was in the news last week after a confrontation with the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, over a disputed land site in Gaduwa District. The incident, captured on video, sparked widespread public debate.

The viral report alleged that unidentified men dressed in black, driving two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates, trailed Yerima from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Kubwa Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.

Adeh urged residents to ignore the story, describing it as misleading and unverified. She warned that spreading false information threatens public peace and safety.

“For the safety of all residents, the Command advises the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police division,” she said.

She also released the Command’s emergency contact numbers 08032003913 and 08068587311 for quick response in distress situations.

The Police restated their commitment to maintaining law and order across the nation’s capital.
