A group of young people gathered on Tuesday morning in the Panseke area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, to demand justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. These youths congregated at the skating ground arena in Abeokuta, donning black attire and carrying placards with slogans such as #JusticeforMohbad and #WhoOffLight, among others.
Similarly, young individuals who are believed to be fans of Mohbad also assembled on Effurun Road in Delta State, holding placards to call for justice in the case of the late singer. These peaceful demonstrations occurred following a protest in Ikorodu, Lagos, where people demanded justice for Mohbad.
Mohbad passed away last Tuesday and was laid to rest on Wednesday in Ikorodu. His death has raised concerns, with some pointing fingers at Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Records and a fellow artist.
Prominent musicians have taken to social media to join the chorus demanding justice for the late music sensation. The Lagos State Police Command has pledged to investigate his death and has established a special investigation team for this purpose.
Furthermore, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has instructed the state Police Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Service (DSS), to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death to ensure justice. This directive was conveyed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed condolences to the grieving family, friends, fans, and residents over the tragic loss of the emerging music star, whose death remains shrouded in mystery. The government and law enforcement authorities are committed to uncovering the truth about his passing.
The statement reads: “The Lagos State Government is aware of the developments following the demise of music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (aka MohBad). The Government extends its condolences to his family and fans. We share in the sorrow of losing such a talented and promising young man who had made a name for himself in a highly competitive industry.
“May The Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and provide comfort to his grieving family and fans. In line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive, the Lagos State Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young star’s death. A 19-member police panel has been tasked with unraveling the mystery surrounding the musician’s demise.”
