Wike-backed Pdp Faction Calls Emergency Party Meetings

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supported by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced emergency meetings of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The notice, issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, on X, said the meetings will hold at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. The BoT session is set for 11:00 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2:00 p.m.

“Attendance is very important as crucial matters will be discussed and addressed,” the notice stated.

The meetings come after the PDP’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, where several high-profile members, including Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu, were expelled for alleged anti-party activities.

The expulsion motion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman Samaila Buga. Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, put the motion to a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly approved by delegates, signaling the party’s determination to address internal dissent and curb anti-party conduct.
