Rema, Tiakola Unite For New Single ‘best’

Musician, Rema, has teamed up with French-Congolese artiste, Tiakola, on a new single entitled “BEST”, further strengthening the growing musical connection between Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene and Francophone Africa.

Released on Friday, September 25, “BEST” is one of the 17 tracks on Tiakola’s newly-released second studio album, WpointM.

The collaboration brings together Rema’s Afropop/Afrobeat-infused sound and Tiakola’s melodic French rap style, creating a cross-border record that reflects the increasingly global nature of contemporary African music.

Interest in the collaboration had been building ahead of its release, after Tiakola appeared to tease “BEST” in the visual for his previous song, “Upa Solide.”

The release also adds another international collaboration to Rema’s 2026 catalogue, following his singles “TEA” and “Oh No.”

For Tiakola, WpointM represents the next phase of his solo career, combining French rap, Afrobeats and influences drawn from his Congolese heritage. The album includes collaborations with Rema, British singer Jorja Smith, Theodora, Bné and Congolese group Zaïko Langa Langa, among others.

The album follows WpointM – 93120, a six-track introductory project released on September 24, featuring songs including “Upa Solide” and “Winter Melo Music” with Leto. The project served as a preface to the full WpointM album.

Meanwhile, Rema is also set for another major international appearance after being announced as one of the headliners for Afro Nation Portugal 2027.

The singer will headline the festival alongside Davido and Congolese star, Fally Ipupa, with the event scheduled to hold from June 9 to 11, 2027, at Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Portugal. Omah Lay, Victony and other artistes are also billed to perform, while French-Congolese star GIMS is listed as a special guest.

With “BEST”, Rema and Tiakola are bringing two distinct African musical worlds together, as artists increasingly cross language, genre and geographical boundaries in search of new audiences.
