The ancient town of Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, came alive yesterday as family members, friends, dignitaries, religious leaders, and well-wishers from across Nigeria gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Olaitan Abiodun, mother of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.


















The colourful celebration drew eminent personalities from all walks of life who joined the Abiodun family in giving thanks to God for Mama’s life of grace, faith, and service to humanity.
Governor Abiodun, in his message of gratitude, expressed profound appreciation to the Almighty God for preserving his mother in good health and sound mind, describing her life as “a true testimony of divine favour, faith, and a lifetime of selfless service to God and humanity.”
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was ably represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, as well as to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, for their presence and goodwill messages.

Other dignitaries at the event included several state governors — Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), and Hope Uzodinma (Imo) — as well as eminent national leaders such as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and Chief James Ibori.
The royal community was also well represented, led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, alongside other traditional rulers from across the country.
Adding spiritual depth to the celebration were prominent clerics, including Bishop David Oyedepo and other religious leaders, who offered prayers and thanksgiving for Mama’s continued health and long life.
The event also witnessed the presence of captains of industry, political figures, and distinguished Nigerians, all of whom came to honour the nonagenarian matriarch.
Governor Abiodun, on behalf of his family, expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined in celebrating his mother’s milestone birthday, saying:
“From the depth of our hearts, we thank everyone — dignitaries, friends, and the good people of Iperu-Remo — for your love, prayers, and honour to Mama. May God bless and reward you all abundantly.”
The celebration featured music, prayers, tributes, and photographs capturing the joyful moments of thanksgiving for a remarkable woman who continues to inspire many with her humility, faith, and devotion.
