During a deliverance Service, a pastor in Sagamu Sets a woman on fire.
A 21-year-old woman named Sukura Owodunni reportedly sustained severe burns after Pastor Taiwo Odebiyi allegedly conducted a deliverance ritual on her at his Cherubim and Seraphim Maberu Parish in Offin, Sagamu, Ogun State. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 17, when Owodunni visited the church in response to a special prayer invitation from Pastor Odebiyi.
During the prayer session, Pastor Odebiyi instructed Owodunni to obtain Amazing Grace perfume, local eggs, and a candle. Witnesses recounted that the pastor purportedly applied the perfume to the woman’s body and lit the candle. Shortly after the candle was ignited, Owodunni reportedly caught fire, suffering severe burns on her chest, shoulders, and legs.

Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer in Adigbe apprehended the pastor on the church premises. The State Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a thorough investigation had been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the case. Odutola also stated that the victim had been taken to a medical facility for treatment but was left to cover her own medical expenses. “Our officers have arrested the suspect, and once the preliminary investigation is completed, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,” added Odutola.
