The Appropriation Bill of N472.250, which Governor Dapo Abiodun presented to the Ogun State House of Assembly in November 2022 as the budget for the coming year 2023, has now been enacted into law.
The House Committee on Finance and Appropriations’ chairman, Hon. Olakunle Sobunkanla, who also moved the motion for the bill’s adoption, seconded it with the support of his vice, Hon. Ganiyu Oyedeji, and the Whole House approved it with a unanimous voice vote. This led to the bill’s passing.
When the House Committee on Supply met in plenary at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, under the chairmanship of Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, the measure was then read and accepted chapter by clause.

LEADERSHIP FRIDAY noted that the predicted revenue in 31 distinct categories across 26 agencies, as well as the recurrent and capital forecasts, had been adjusted in the budget.
Governor Abiodun had on 17th November, 2023, presented the Appropriation Bill of N472. 25 billion to the Assembly for passage.
The report states that 22 MDAs’ recurrent expenses were examined, and four others’ capital expenses were also changed. As a result, the budget’s proposed capital expenditure was reduced from N270. 411 billion to N269.605 billion, a difference of N805.3 million, while the recurrent expenditure was raised from N201.839 billion to N202.644 billion, a rise of N805.3 million.
Following that, the motion for the third reading of the bill was made by the majority leader of the House, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff. It was seconded by the deputy speaker, Hon. Hakeem Balogun, and received support from the entire House. The third reading of the bill was then performed in front of the members by the clerk/head of Legislative Service, Mr. ‘Deji Adeyemo.
In response, Hon. Oluomo gave the order to send the governor a clean copy of the law for his approval.
