Faizah Atu Muhammad, a 22-year-old Law graduate from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, has brought pride to her country by winning a prestigious essay competition organized by UONGOZI Institute of Tanzania.

Other winners in the competition include:

  • First runner-up: Innocent Matekere (Tanzania)
  • Second runner-up: Sithandweyinkosi Sivela (Zimbabwe)
  • Third runner-up: Onwuka Dabeluchukwu Chiemelie (Nigeria)

The competition, called the ‘2023 Youth Leadership Competition,’ was open to young Africans aged 18-25 from 30 African countries, as well as young Africans in diaspora in the United Kingdom and India. Faizah Muhammad emerged as the winner of the competition, which evaluated essays based on originality, creativity, use of language, and appropriateness of the context of the theme.

The essay competition focused on generating a wide range of solutions and ideas for facilitating agricultural intra-trade within the African region. It aimed to encourage young Africans to showcase their writing skills, leadership skills, and other inherent potentials.

Faizah Muhammad’s victory has not only made Nigeria proud but also earned her a prize of Two Thousand (US) Dollars, the reward for winning the continental competition.
