Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that his recent break from music followed the death of his mother earlier this year.
Kizz Daniel, also known as Vado D’Great, disclosed this while responding to a fan on X on Friday, clarifying that his absence from the music scene was not because he was working on a new album.
He explained that he needed time away from his regular music activities following the death of his mother earlier this year.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had written, “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”
Kizz Daniel replied, “I paused for my Mom not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family, sorry I came late this year.”
The post attracted reactions from fans, many of whom offered condolences and prayers for his late mother and his family.
Kizz Daniel said that although the loss has been challenging, he remains committed to moving forward for the sake of his family. He also apologised to his fans for his delayed return this year.
Kizz Daniel has endured several heartbreaking personal losses over the years. His father passed away in 2015, several years after the singer began his career in the Nigerian music industry. In 2021, he also lost one of his triplets shortly after their birth.
The singer has previously discussed how these personal losses affected his life and music, with grief influencing some of the themes explored in his work.
In 2025, Kizz Daniel revealed that his wife had also lost her mother in 2024. He shared this while explaining the personal experiences that inspired his song, “Al-Jannah.”
The singer has generally kept his family life private, though he occasionally opens up to fans and followers about personal experiences.
