The present administration has revealed its continued support to initiatives that promotes youth empowerment, skills development, innovations and other programmes that strengthen national unity and sustainable development.
Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, made this submission during 2026 Corps Employers Workshop, themed: Fine-tuning Stakeholders’ Collaboration to Enhance Corps Member’s Welfare and Workplace Experience in Agbeloba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Hon. Isiaka, noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration recognised the immense potentials of the teeming youths in nation building, stated that the employers workshop would provide the young graduates with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to national development while acquiring practical workplace experience.
He said, stronger collaboration among relevant stakeholders would undoubtedly result in improved welfare, enhanced workplace experiences and greater achievements for both Corps members and the organisations they serve.
“Beyond their official assignments, Corps members actively contribute to sports development, youth mentorship, community service, health campaigns, educational support and other numerous developmental initiatives across the State and Nigeria in general”, he said.
Earlier, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu, said that Corps members deserved workplaces that were safe, welcoming, motivating and conducive to learning and productivity, noting that they should not be seen as temporary staff, but as a valuable contributor, capable of bringing innovation, creativity and fresh perspectives.
She implored their employers to expose the Corps members to opportunities that would enhance their leadership abilities, entrepreneurial skills, digital competencies and problem-solving capacity, urging them to continue to provide the Corps members with meaningful assignments that aligned with their educational qualifications and competencies.
