President, Truck Owners and Drivers of Nigeria, Atan Branch, Ogun, Amos Oludiji, urged the Ogun government to repair abandoned roads in the Atan and Ouode areas to alleviate human suffering. On Monday in Otta, Ogun, Oluji appealed in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN).
He complained about the unfavorable condition of several roads, especially Jalan Sokoto in Agbara and its surroundings, which were very poor. Oludiji added that the construction had reduced the profit margins of its members because they had spent a lot of money repairing and maintaining their cars.
He said the devastating effects of the bad roads on members and occupants cannot be counted. “Our members spend a lot of time repairing their vehicles while residents are locked up for hours because of damaged roads,” he said. Olujiji also said that the condition of the damaged roads was one of the factors causing road accidents which resulted in the loss of life and property. He urged the government to make concerted efforts to repair the abandoned roads to reduce people’s everyday discomfort.
