Davido’s ‘b4 B4’ Ends Six-week Reign, Gets Cultural Visual Boost

Musician, Davido’s “B4 B4”, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, continues to command attention as the song combines a strong chart run with a visually rich music video highlighting Yoruba culture and heritage.

The track, one of the standout records on Davido’s latest album, Oriadé, spent six consecutive weeks at number one on the Official Nigeria Top 100 before surrendering the top spot in the latest chart released by TurnTable Charts.

“B4 B4” was displaced by FOLA’s “it’s over”, featuring Bella Shmurda and Zlatan, which debuted at number one while Rema’s “Oh No” became number two.

Despite the drop, the six-week reign marked a significant milestone for Davido, making “B4 B4” his longest-running number one single in Nigeria as a lead artiste. According to TurnTable Charts, the song surpassed the five-week number one run previously achieved by his “With You”.

The collaboration also strengthened the chart credentials of Mayorkun and FOLA, with the three artistes combining for a record that maintained its dominance across streaming and radio during its extended stay at the summit.

The official video, released on August 9, brought Davido, Mayorkun and FOLA together on screen. Directed by Perliks and produced by Nouvelle Films, the visual incorporates elements of Yoruba culture, including traditional aesthetics and indigo Adire textiles.

Rather than arriving as a follow-up to the song’s six-week number one achievement, the video was released earlier in the chart run, giving the song a visual identity as its popularity continued to grow.

Released on July 31 this year, Oriadé is Davido’s sixth studio album and features collaborations with artistes including Black Sherif, Mayorkun, FOLA, Leon Thomas, Aya Nakamura and Llona.

Meanwhile, Davido is preparing for another major moment in Lagos as he marks 15 years in music with “Oriadé: The Residency,” a three-night concert scheduled for December 17, 18 and 19 at the National Theatre.

The residency will see the singer perform songs from Oriadé alongside selections from his extensive catalogue. Davido announced the project as a homecoming celebration of his 15-year journey in music.

With “B4 B4” still maintaining a presence on music charts despite losing its number one position, the song remains one of the notable records from Davido’s current album era, while its cultural-themed visual adds another layer to its appeal.
