Chief Bode Mustapha says Senator Solomon Adeola embodies fairness, unity, and development across Ogun State
The Osi of Egbaland and prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Ogun State, Chief Bode Mustapha, has declared his support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), describing him as a performer, bridge-builder, and unifier who represents the Egba agenda through fairness, inclusiveness, and developmental achievements.
Chief Mustapha, who currently serves as Osi of Egbaland, made this known while featuring on “Oju Abẹ”, a programme on Splash FM, Abeokuta, hosted by Adetunji Ayomide (Quality).
He explained that his support for Senator Yayi is guided by fairness and performance rather than sentiment. He recounted how a woman once told him she would vote for Yayi because a road built by the senator had reached her street, improving her living conditions and reducing her vehicle repair expenses. Mustapha also cited the installation of solar streetlights in several communities, which he said had enhanced night-time security and comfort for residents.
“Good deeds should not be destroyed by sentiment. We must be fair and judge by performance,” Chief Mustapha said.
“Others can also perform, but what I have seen is different from what I’ve heard. I will support the man who has touched every senatorial district in Ogun State. I have one vote, and I will give it to Yayi.”

On the ongoing call for a power shift to Ogun West, Chief Mustapha said Senator Yayi’s mixed heritage — a Yewa father and an Egba mother — makes him a true symbol of unity in the state.
“Has Yewa/Awori ever produced a governor? No. God has given them a capable son — father from Yewa, mother from Egba. We must show compassion and support them,” he said.
He dismissed speculations questioning Senator Yayi’s origin as mere political propaganda, recalling how his own lineage was once questioned when he aspired to become Balogun Ilu Ibadan in Gbagura until it was confirmed that he hailed from Ọja-Agbo.
“This is politics — what we call jùlẹ òṣèlú or ìbọn òṣèlú,” he remarked.
Chief Mustapha clarified that his support for Senator Yayi was not influenced by money or personal ties.
“I don’t need to talk to him personally. His works in the communities are enough communication. I am content with my achievements and did not collect any money from Yayi,” he stated.
He further emphasized that he was speaking in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.
“I am speaking as the Osi of Egba. Bode Mustapha is the one speaking. The Alake is the father of all; no one should drag him into politics,” he added.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Chief Mustapha declared his confidence in Yayi’s governorship ambition.
“Yayi will not contest for Senate again in 2027. He will contest for governor, and my vote is for him.”
He also urged other Ogun senators to sustain their good performance, saying in Yoruba: “Ki wọ́n má ṣe bí wọ́n ṣe ń ṣe lọ,” meaning “let them continue the good work.”
Chief Mustapha concluded his remarks with a firm endorsement:
“Yayi is a performer, a bridge-builder, and a unifier across Ogun State. That is why I stand by him.”
