American Lawmaker Condemns Abduction Of Kebbi Schoolgirls

A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has commented on the recent kidnapping of schoolgirls from Government Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko-Wasagu area of Kebbi State.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Moore condemned the attack and asked people to pray for the victims.
He wrote, “Please join me in praying for the 25 girls who have been kidnapped and for the vice principal who was killed.”

Moore also stated that the incident happened in a Christian community in Northern Nigeria and said the Nigerian government must do more to stop such violence.

However, his claim was corrected by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ahmad thanked Moore for his concern but said the information was wrong.
He explained that the attack happened in a Muslim community and that the victims were Muslims.

Ahmad added that situations like this show that many foreigners misunderstand the insecurity challenges in Nigeria, and he warned against spreading false narratives that could create more division.

This exchange comes as debates continue between Nigerian and US officials over claims of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria — a claim Nigerian authorities have repeatedly denied.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has promised to rescue the abducted students, saying it is deeply concerned and working to ensure the girls return home safely.
