A 200-level student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ademuwagun Mayokun Precious, has launched a student-led technology initiative aimed at promoting innovation and discouraging cybercrime among undergraduates in Ogun State.
Ademuwagun, convener of the OOU Future Tech Conference, said the programme is designed to guide students toward productive careers in technology while positioning Ogun State as a growing centre for digital entrepreneurship. He explained that the initiative encourages students to embrace ethical participation in the tech ecosystem rather than engage in cybercrime.
The project is being organised in collaboration with Usman Joseph, a student entrepreneur and Assistant General Secretary of the Computer Students Association, OOU Chapter. According to the organisers, the conference will provide structured learning opportunities in Web 2 development, Artificial Intelligence, Web 3 innovation, and digital content creation.

They added that the event is part of a broader vision to establish a Technology and Innovation Investors Hub within the university. The proposed hub will connect student innovators with investors, mentors and industry leaders, helping promising ideas secure funding and grow into sustainable businesses.
The conference is expected to feature prominent figures in the tech industry, including Douglas Kendyson, Chief Executive Officer of Selar; the African CEO of Auqli; the Chief Executive Officer of Pricepally; and the founder of PXXL Space, a 19-year-old entrepreneur.
Beyond keynote speeches and panel discussions, the initiative will also offer practical training in animation, online publishing and content monetisation at subsidised rates. A dedicated Frontend Web Development training programme is planned to equip students from various academic backgrounds with in-demand digital skills.
The organisers further revealed plans to host an investors’ forum later in the year, where stakeholders can evaluate and support student-led start-ups focused on education, commerce and community development.
They said the initiative draws inspiration from Nigeria’s fast-growing tech ecosystem, citing companies such as Paystack, founded by alumni of Babcock University, as examples of local ventures that have achieved global success.
Ademuwagun noted that the overall goal is to channel student talent into innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and contribute to the long-term technological growth of Ogun State.
