Students’ Union Governments (SUGs) across tertiary institutions in Ogun State have thrown their support behind the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Student Matters, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez, dismissing allegations of palliative diversion as baseless and misleading.
In a joint statement released over the weekend, the student leaders distanced themselves from comments earlier attributed to the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Comrade Francis Abiola, who had accused Azeez of diverting student palliatives.
The statement was signed by Comrade Zinsu Gbohunmi, Deputy Chairman of NANS (Ogun Axis); Senator Muizz Olanrewaju Olatunji, SUG President of Olabisi Onabanjo University; Senator Temitope Afolabi, SUG President of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic; and Comrade Ilo Fadilu Temitope, SUG President of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), among others.
Additional signatories included SUG leaders from the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology; the Federal College of Education, Osiele; the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Tai Solarin University of Education; Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; and Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo.
The union presidents expressed strong confidence in Azeez’s dedication to student welfare, describing him as a consistent advocate who works to ensure government policies remain student-centered.
“We, the undersigned Presidents of Students’ Unions across tertiary institutions in Ogun State, firmly dissociate ourselves from the misleading statement recently circulated in the name of ‘NANS Ogun executives,’” the leaders said.
They stressed that the document did not come from them and did not reflect their views, adding that the unauthorized use of their names and offices was inappropriate and deceptive.
“We hereby reject the statement in its entirety as false and not representative of our position. We urge those behind it to stop the continued misrepresentation,” the group added.

The student leaders also said their independent findings did not support the allegations being spread, urging the public and relevant stakeholders to disregard the claims.
Reaffirming their neutrality and commitment to student interests, the SUG presidents reiterated their support for Azeez and his ongoing engagement with students across the state.
