A spokesperson from TRACE said the accident happened because the driver of a Toyota Sienna was driving on the wrong side of the road. He collided head-on with a Boxer motorcycle. After the crash, the driver tried to escape and hit more vehicles.
The TRACE spokesperson also said all the vehicles involved had been removed and traffic had returned to normal.
In another accident, one person died and three others were injured. This crash involved a white-and-black Mack container truck (registration number T17674LA) and a white Volkswagen bus (registration number FST513YH). According to Akinbiyi, the Volkswagen bus driver tried to overtake wrongly and crashed head-on into the truck carrying animal feed. One passenger in the bus died. The vehicles were later towed away, and arrangements were made to transfer the load from the truck to another vehicle.
Last week, about 15 people were injured in another multiple-vehicle accident at Omoyele Junction on the Sagamu–Ikorodu Expressway in Ogun State. The accident involved an unregistered Mack truck, a Toyota Highlander (plate number AKD 29 JZ), a Suzuki minibus (korope), and a motorcycle.
TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the crash in a statement. He explained that the accident happened because the truck driver was speeding, and the truck’s brakes reportedly failed. This caused the truck to crash into the other vehicles.
In another report, the police in Ogun State have arrested a 24-year-old man, Sulaimon Laja, who is suspected to be a cultist. He was accused of terrorising people in the Igbesa community in Ado-Odo/Ota and nearby areas. Police say they are still searching for other suspects involved.
