The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, has denied viral reports claiming the school was shut down because bandits attacked Ijebu-Ode. They described the reports as false, misleading, and meant to create fear.
The school said the rumour was meant to cause panic among students, staff, and residents of the state.
Some reports had earlier claimed that the university asked students to leave their hostels because of a security threat in Ijebu-Ode. But the Registrar, Dapo Oke, said in a statement on Friday that the school never gave such an order. He also said that neither Ijebu-Ode nor the TASUED campus was under attack.
The school asked the public to ignore the false information and stop spreading unverified news that could cause fear. They assured everyone that classes and administrative activities are ongoing and that the safety and welfare of students remain their priority.
“There was no closure of the school and students were not told to leave their hostels. The environment in Ijebu-Ode and Ijagun is peaceful and safe,” the statement said.
The university also advised everyone to depend only on official school communication channels for accurate information.
