Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Friday opened the newly renovated Executive Council Chambers at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He said the upgrade is part of his government’s long-term plan to improve cities and rebuild infrastructure across the state.
The governor explained this in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). He said the old chambers were already in very bad shape, so the government decided to remodel the building instead of constructing a completely new Governor’s Office.
“We remain committed to building strong and lasting infrastructure,” Abiodun wrote, noting that former Governor Olusegun Osoba helped unveil the new chambers.
Abiodun said the previous condition of the chambers was unacceptable. He explained that choosing to remodel the old structure was a deliberate decision to save costs while still creating a modern and functional workspace.
He added that the remodeled chambers now have modern technology, better lighting, digital systems, and comfortable seating to help government officials make decisions more effectively.
The governor also said the project is part of a larger plan to upgrade key urban areas in the state.
“This project is one of many in our Urban Renewal Programme, including the improvement of major areas like the Ibara GRA,” he said.
Abiodun noted that the project fits into his administration’s ISEYA development plan, which focuses on improving infrastructure, security, health, education, and housing.
He appreciated the work of his Executive Council members and thanked former Governor Osoba for commissioning the renovated chambers. Abiodun also mentioned Osoba’s praise for other ongoing upgrades in the state.
According to him, Osoba’s positive comments on projects like the remodeling of the MKO Abiola Stadium and Cultural Centre encourage the government to continue modernising Ogun State.
Abiodun repeated that his administration is committed to creating a good environment for economic growth and investor trust.
“With every project we complete, we move closer to building the Ogun State our people deserve — organised, progressive, and ready for the future,” he said.
