Pdp Chiefs In Ogun Dump Kashamu And Pdp For Yayi

A group of Peoples Democratic Party Chieftains loyal to a Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu have dumped the party for All Progressives Congress in Ogun state.

The Media Adviser to Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly called Yayi, Chief Kayode Odunaro in a statement disclosed that the defectors were from Ogun Central Senatorial District in the state and were led by a two-time commissioner in the State, Aare Tunde Alabi who were loyalists of Senator Kashamu.

Odunaro further said Chief Alabi led other notable leaders including three-time chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Engineer Akeem Adesina who was also the immediate past Chairman of PDP, Ogun Central; two times.

Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Area and former majority leader of the state House of Assembly; Alhaji Morphy Ajisegiri and a leader from Ewekoro local government and one-time assistant treasurer of PDP Ogun state, Chief Fohunola Abiola.

He said others were former Special Assistant to Ogun State governor and Assistant State Public Relations Officer of PDP Alhaji Saula Marin; Chief Oluwole Adeyi, former Secretary to Abeokuta South Local government, Alhaji Nurudeen Olaleye and a leader of PDP, Alhaji Lai Shobayo.

According to him, the defectors have declared “total support for the Senator” on his 2019 governorship ambition in the state.

“Speaking on behalf of the group at the end of their meeting with Senator Adeola, Chief Alabi traced the history of PDP crisis in 2011 and 2015 and the numerous court cases with frivolous judgments that led to electoral failure for PDP.

“He stressed that it is time to support a candidate that can win an election and be in government come 2019.

“ By the special grace of God, a Yewa man will be the governor of Ogun State in 2019 and we believe that the person is Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi. We are supporting him fully for the race on any platform he decides to run” Aare Alabi stated.

Alabi further said that Senator Adeola said by 2019 he hopes to be in government and not just a party man as the numerous crises of PDP since 2011 has led most of them to be only party men instead of being in government.

He added that he is not going to wait till 2019 for another failure which is why they are moving in early to an aspirant that they believe God will use to get them into government in 2019.

Earlier on, Senator Adeola told the defectors that he was presently engaged in wide consultation across the state on the need to take the state to a better level adding that God’s perfect will shall come to pass in Ogun State in 2019.

Among those present during the visit are former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Tunji Egbetokun, former Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State, Tunji Akinosi, former Consultant to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Tunde Olaotan and former local government Chairman of Ijebu -Ode Hon Daadah, among others.
