Funke Akindele, a renowned actress and PDP deputy governorship candidate, is overjoyed that her just-released film, “Battle on Buka Street,” broke a new Nollywood box office record by making more than N135 million in a single day.
For the second week running, the project continues to be the most popular Nollywood movie project.
On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the delighted actress celebrated her accomplishment by thanking her devoted followers for their unfailing support and for packing theatres to see the film “Battle on Buka Street.”
The biggest single day for a Nollywood movie in 2022 was December 25, when Battle on Buka Street grossed N135 million.

The first episode of “Fight on Buka Street” aired on Sunday, December 11, 2022. The story revolves around the “battle” between two ladies who compete against one another in a food challenge in order to earn the coveted “King of Buka Street” title awarded to the greatest street vendor in the area.
A stellar cast of Nollywood performers, including Femi Jacobs, Mercy Johnson, Kelvin Ikeduba, Bimbo Ademoye, Tina Mba, Sola Sobowale, Nkem Owoh, Tobi Makinde, and Funke Akindele, are included in the film that Funke Akindele produced.
It was directed by Funke Akindele and Tobi Makinde.
