President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, according to the Presidency.
Tinubu’s aircraft is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later on Tuesday.
The President is scheduled to begin his post-vacation engagements in Lagos, where he will honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, widely regarded as a symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola on Independence Day.
The premiere will hold at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
Abiola was the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was annulled by the military government of the late Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.
The Presidency said Tinubu would also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation. He initially spent a week in London before proceeding to Paris.
During his stay in Paris, the President attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He also held meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests span media and digital businesses, including Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday, Tinubu also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola.
Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and the creation of a Blue Marine Economic Zone in the area.
DP World, a global ports and logistics company, is expected to invest $7 billion in the seaport and the proposed economic zone.
The Presidency said Tinubu would return to Abuja after completing his political engagements in Lagos.
The President’s working vacation began on August 30 and has taken him to London and Paris, where he combined private engagements with meetings involving business and political stakeholders.
