Following the threat of an attack by suspected bandits, residents of Ogere and Isara in Ikenne and Remo-North Local Government Areas of Ogun have been paralyzed.
Our correspondent learned that a message purportedly written by bandits planning to attack the communities of Ishara and Ogere was being circulated.
“I was in a prayer group yesterday when we were told that bandits wrote a letter of planned attack to Ogere and Ishara communities in Ogun state,” a resident said in one of the forwarded messages.
According to reports, an Ishara principal confirmed that the letter was addressed to the two communities.
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
Oyeyemi, on the other hand, described the letter as malicious and stated that the police were looking for the letter’s sponsor.
“We are investigating the so-called letter with a view to arresting whoever wrote it because some people will just sit down and think of ways to cause unnecessary panic in the minds of the people,” Oyeyemi said.
“We are not leaving any stone unturned in our pursuit of those responsible for the dangerous letter.”
“We saw a composed letter, we discovered that mischief maker wrote it,” Oyeyemi said when asked if he saw the letter. Aside from that, we are not easing up on operational activities across the state, so with or without a letter, we ensure that we have a very strong security arrangement in place to ward off any type of situation from any angle. We’ve arrived on the ground.”
