Nigerian socialite and music promoter, Samson Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, has made his first public appearance since surviving a recent auto crash, effectively putting to rest widespread rumours that he had died or suffered an amputation.
A trending video circulating on social media on Saturday showed Sam Larry celebrating with associates, appearing alert and in stable condition. The footage has attracted thousands of reactions, with many expressing relief over his recovery.
The video emerged days after unverified claims circulated online alleging that the music promoter had died following the road accident, while other social media posts also claimed he had undergone an amputation.
His public appearance appears to have dispelled the speculation surrounding his condition.
Earlier, his associate, Akin Abolade, popularly known as Mr Lilgaga, dismissed the death rumours.
A few days after the crash, Lilgaga said, “Yes, he’s alive and not dead, but his condition cannot be ascertained because of how bad the accident was. We spoke after the accident. He’s alive, and I’m sure of that.”
Sam Larry has remained a controversial figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry since the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, in September 2023.
He came under intense public scrutiny after videos emerged showing confrontations involving the late singer before his death. The backlash led to calls for an investigation, and he was subsequently questioned by the police as part of the probe.
Although his name featured prominently in public discussions surrounding the case, investigators maintained that the inquiry would be guided by available evidence, while Sam Larry consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death.
