The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is launching the ‘School Protection Squad’ in Ogun State to improve school safety.
According to a statement by the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the launch will take place during a two-day event called “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders,” scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The event aims to inform stakeholders about the measures the Nigeria Police Force has introduced to safeguard schools in the state. These include quick-response teams, vehicle patrols, and training sessions on security for students, principals, and school partners.
The programme will also involve other security agencies, government officials, traditional leaders, and private sector representatives to ensure strong support for the initiative.
The public can watch the proceedings live on the police’s social media platforms from 10:00 am on November 26 and 27, 2024.
Participants will have the chance to discuss school security, share ideas, and suggest new strategies to better protect students in Ogun State.
