The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has strongly criticized the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling on Wednesday, which upheld President Bola Tinubu’s election, deeming it a mere spectacle.
The MBF expressed disapproval of the Tribunal’s decision to focus on technicalities as a basis for dismissing the petitions, despite cautionary measures against such actions in resolving election disputes.

Dr. Bitrus Pogu, the National President of MBF, conveyed the forum’s stance on Thursday and encouraged the petitioners to take their case to the Supreme Court to uphold justice.
In his words: “We consider that ruling a farce. We are urging the petitioners to continue to the Supreme Court. Even an ordinary Nigerian without legal expertise would find fault with that ruling. How can it be deemed constitutionally unacceptable for someone to hold dual passports or dual nationality, yet the issue was dismissed because of a filing technicality? There were numerous peculiarities based on technicalities. Although I’m not a lawyer, the fact remains: if someone is unfit to be president, they should not be president. Why use technicalities to argue that even though he is unfit, he is fit because the complainant did not submit it correctly? The issue still stands. Therefore, we are disappointed in the judgment and encourage the petitioners to proceed to the Supreme Court, where justice can prevail.”
