Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, announced on Thursday that her husband has returned to Nigeria.
In a message posted on her Facebook page, Anyanwu-Akeredolu shared a picture of Governor Akeredolu on a private jet with the caption “homebound.”
This news comes after approximately three months of medical leave in Germany for Governor Akeredolu. He began his medical leave in June and it was extended indefinitely by the state House of Assembly in July. During his absence, he transferred power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in accordance with constitutional provisions.

According to a source, the governor has returned to Nigeria and is expected to be formally received in Ibadan by members of the Ondo State Executive Council. Many of the state executive council members were already in Ibadan to welcome him.
Another source confirmed that Governor Akeredolu is presently in his residence in Ibadan and that his return will be announced to the public soon. The source also mentioned that several immediate family members and friends of the governor have been with him since his arrival in Ibadan to celebrate his return.
