The Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has scheduled Saturday, September 30, as the date for delivering its judgment in the case brought forward by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the election victory of Dapo Abiodun from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The tribunal had initially reserved its judgment on September 4 after both parties presented their final written arguments. The tribunal, led by Hamidu Kunaza, assured the concerned parties that it would communicate the judgment delivery date to them.
Subsequently, the tribunal has notified the legal representatives of the petitioners and respondents about the upcoming judgment, setting it for Saturday. Afolabi Orekoya, the Media Aide to Ladi Adebutu, confirmed that they had been informed of the tribunal’s decision to deliver the judgment on September 30.
Ladi Adebutu is seeking a declaration from the tribunal that he should be declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Ogun State, citing alleged non-compliance with the electoral act as the basis for his petition.
